Germantown, Tenn. (October 15, 2012) – Megan Soun, a senior at St. Mary’s Episcopal School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.
Soun was one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for General Scholarship. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. She and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Megan is a top scholar who sits at the top of her class with a 5.68 weighted grade point average. She scored 33 on the ACT including a perfect 36 in reading and a 2310 on the SAT. She has been named a National Merit Semifinalist and an AP Scholar with Distinction. She is the school’s nominee for the Morehead Cain Scholarship at UNC Chapel Hill. She also earned two perfect scores on the National Latin Exam.
A gifted student in science and math, Megan attended the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Sciences after her sophomore year. Last year, she received the AP Chemistry award. She currently is working with an engineer at Medtronic doing research on optimizing spacers in a spinal cord.
The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators. Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, Le-Moyne Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
